My name is Jonathan Bell, and I am an artist living in Tucson, Arizona. If I had to describe my style I would call it "representational," but often with a surreal twist. Sometimes the subject includes dreamlike entities. Sometimes the subjects float or fly furiously around in the composition. Sometimes the two are combined.
Light also plays an important role. I like to set up my paintings so that colors bounce all around the subjects, reflecting and subtly amplifying themselves in the scene.
I am in a state of constant learning, as each new painting presents its own unique set of challenges.
In 2005 I began exploring the world of digital 3D art. It is my goal to eventually marry the two worlds together - to recreate the subjects from my paintings and give them breath and life.
